A Classy July Wedding Day at Breckenridge Barn
Haley has always felt like a sister to me since we share our little sis, so I was so thrilled to be able to capture this day for her and Evan, and to spend the wedding weekend with everyone! My little sister and I packed up and headed toward the Chesapeake Bay a day early for Haley and Evan's rehearsal and pre-wedding festivities. It was a such a fun and unique opportunity to get to meet the bridal party and family before the wedding!
The next day was wedding day, and I can still say this was one of the most gorgeous weddings I've been blessed enough to shoot. Haley planned every detail flawlessly, and the setting at Breckenridge Barn was perfect for her classy black and white color scheme. A downpour came through just in time to cool things down, then the sun came out for their ceremony and portraits. It couldn't have been a more perfect wedding day.
After getting ready, Haley headed to the front of the barn where her dad and grandmother were waiting for a first look with her. It was the sweetest moment, with tears shed both in front-of and behind the camera.
After her first look, we jumped into Haley's family photos, then photos of her and her girls. The sun was in and out, which turned out to be a blessing, because we were forced to move around and get so many different areas of this gorgeous venue!
The details
I had a rare few minutes while waiting for the groomsmen, so I snapped some shots of Haley and Evan's details and the outside of their venue. The black and white tablescapes photographed so well! Breckenridge Barn is such a beautiful space, even with the approaching storm rolling in overhead.
With the details done, we started photos of Evan and his groomsmen. It can be hard to wrangle this many groomsmen for photos, but Evan and the guys were naturals! The rain began just before we could finish up with their photos, so we ran inside for the storm to pass and found time after the ceremony to check those groomsmen photos off the list.
Last minute prep before the ceremony!
The Ceremony
The rain let up just in time for their ceremony, and the sun was shining the whole time! Their mothers had prepared something to say during the ceremony, and tears were shed all around. They kept this part of the day short and sweet, and in a few minutes they were married!
The bridal party immediately began celebrations! I love large bridal parties like this, especially for those big celebratory group photos! The sunshine also allowed us to get those last few photos of the groomsmen that had been interrupted by the rain!
Bride and Groom Portraits
After a few more family photos, we were able to jump into my favorite part of the day: bride and groom portraits! Haley and Evan made my job so effortless. They were complete naturals in front of the camera, and you can see the love they have for each other in every frame. At this point of the day, the July sun was becoming merciless, so we snapped a few shots and decided to wait for sunset to go outside for more.
The Reception
Haley and Evan's bridal party went all-out for their entrances, making for the most fun-filled photos. The newlyweds jumped right into their cake cutting before starting speeches. Luckily, the tears shed from my sister's maid of honor speech were quickly replaced by tears of laughter from he best man's speech. The inside of Breckenridge Barn makes a stunning backdrop for the sweetest first dances and parent dances, and the balcony allowed me to get a unique perspective on their reception space!
After dinner, we went back outside and got even more portraits! I'm so happy Haley and Evan chose to take more time for these so I could capture these for them! Their venue had the most beautiful wildflower field, so we of course had to spend some time amongst the flowers before heading to the front of the barn.
Party Time!
Haley and Evan spent the rest of the evening celebrating! This was one of the most fun dance floors I've gotten to capture, especially with having my sisters there with me! I don't think there was a single guest who wasn't on the dance floor!
Haley and Evan ended their perfect day with a private last dance. I love when couples choose to do this! It makes for the sweetest photos, and is a chance to slow down and take in the moment one more time before your wedding day is over!
